Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yorktown Heights welcomed Pastor Christopher Chantelau in December 2017. God has called us together to grow in our worship, education, outreach and fellowship; areas Pastor Chantelau has experience in during his 25 years as a Pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He holds a B.A. in Music from Gettysburg College, a master’s in Divinity from Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary, completed two years at Fordham University School of Law and has served four other Lutheran congregations in Pennsylvania, New York and most recently in Towson, Maryland.
In addition to enjoying Bible Study with all ages, he also feels blessed to have led youth and adults on many Servant Trips, focusing mainly on his interest in repairing and renewing homes for those in need. He has also been committed to cooperative efforts among faith communities, saying, “In this time, people of faith must heal our divisions to come together in understanding and cooperation.”
The Church office is staffed Monday through Friday by our Parish Administrator, Kristen Halderman. Those community members and groups who wish to use our Fellowship Hall for events should contact the church office. Kristen can also assist with coordinating weddings, baptisms, funerals at Grace. She also serves as the charter sponsor / coordinator with our Boy Scout Troop 174.
Our Music Director is Becki Advocate. Becki welcomes musicians who wish to perform as part of our worship services and community concerts.
Our church property is maintained by an active Property Committee, led by our long-time Sexton.
A large number of unpaid lay members serve on the Congregational Council, as Treasurer and Financial Secretary, as Deacons and as Worship Assistants.
